Obie slipped the hard stare into a wild grin and slapped her thigh then put out his cigar on his hand, the grin never leaving his lips.

“First things first. Not quite sure what you’ll find in that burnt out husk but if you want to rig the Vigilant for a come up you gonna need at least a full Super team, which is seven, right? To us Mercs, five is a tighter cohesion but let’s not break tradition, huh.”

Head nodding she started to open her mouth but his look had her clasping that thing like a princess in a chastity belt.

“No kiddo, we don’t qualify. We be Mercs since birth and Rogue for the temp or not, we gonna die as the House of the Wolf, like our parents before us, plus the cost to change on our next rank up is steep as fuck and we ain’t paying that bitch.”

A sideways eye accompanied by an upturn of lips.

“Now you got two with you making three, so you need four, yeppers. Now I might have another for ya but put your feelers out. We want you with a full team and trained up with each other before we head out. You gonna visit the ole’ site of the Vigilant, anything else be disrespectful if ya take my meaning.”

She groaned for multiple reasons, first of all, cause he was right on the dingo, the dirty dog. Secondly cause she had a feeling what was comin’ next with his suggestion.

“Please don’t tell me you be drumming up your little sis with that comment? She’s Uncommon, at Silver, Silver! We skipping to most likely a meat grinder on the real.”

The mistake made itself flip up on the quick quick. She shouldn’t of known that piece of info. With anyone else she could play it off as the his little sis told her but the girl was quiet as a door mouse, rarely opening those lips to let anything fall out much less something most never shared except to a few on the close tie up. His eyes had lidded the steady gaze of a snake slithering through the grass.

“First of all, that you know that, tells me something you should of already divulged. There’s a reason I lead one of the most well known veteran Merc groups in the Wolf. Putting that in a wicker basket for a moment. Yes, she’s Uncommon and was originally as you could guess, Common but she’s part of the family, been trained up personally by me, and I know as a hard fact she will get an Epic option when she hits Gold and her Final Evolution.”

Em didn’t want to doubt him but that was a hard sell, though, could be done, jumping a Tier, Lace was proof of that, and him training her lent it some choo choo weight, yet still, she was a Merc from a Merc family, how the heck?….

“She chose Super didn’t she? Holy hell that must’ve been a slippy slap to the whole fam.
